The wine is deep ruby in colour. On the nose, bright cherry fruit aromas are combined with hints of chocolate and balsamic vinegar. On the palate, the fruit is supported by fine-grained tannins and a gently savoury herb and mineral finish.

Producer
For over twenty years, Alberto Antonini has been overseeing a project that involves a number of growers who farm vineyards in the area surrounding his home town of Cerreto Guidi. Alberto oversees and consults on vineyard management and harvest timing, selecting only the best fruit that is then vinified in a shared winery that is only a couple of miles away from his Poggiotondo estate. Named Buontalenti after the famous 16th century Florentine architect who designed the Villa Medicea in Cerreto Guidi, this Chianti shows beautiful depth, ripe aromatics and a long finish.
Vineyards
The grapes for this wine come from vineyards in Cerreto Guidi at an altitude of 200 metres above sea level, in the western part of Chianti. The grapes are grown on calcareous soils and are trained to the Guyot system.
Vinification
The fruit was hand picked and selected. Fermentation took place in cement tanks with indigenous yeasts and then pressed in a gentle pneumatic press to extract the juice. The wine was aged in 54HL large, untoasted casks to allow the quality of the fruit to shine through.
