A vibrant ruby-red in colour. Aromas of black cherry, plum and balsamic. Well balanced on the palate with a fresh minerality. Notes of toasted almond so typical of the Primitivos from Gioia del Colle. Try with Spaghetti puttanesca, lamb tagine or crispy fried squid with harissa paste.
Primitivo Gioia del Colle
The Fatalone winery was established in the late 19th century by Nicola Petrera and is situated at Spinomarino in the heart of Puglia’s Gioia del Colle region. Today the estate is run by 5th generation winemaker Pasquale Petrera who adheres strictly to organic principles in the vineyard and cellar. Only the Primitivo grape is grown here from vineyards situated 365 metres above sea level and the vines are planted among large rocks that contribute a certain minerality and freshness to the wines. This particular Primitivo comes from 8 hectares of vines grown in the Murgian hills and is aged in Slavonic oak casks for 6 months. Smooth and spicy this pairs well with spicy fish dishes.
