Deep and almost opaque in colour. Pronounced aromas of morello cherry lead on the nose, underlaid with complex layers of oak and spice. Its flavours are rich and strong, with heavy tannins and considerable texture – this is a powerful wine, with great character.
Amarone della Valpolicella 2017
Vineyard: Grapes are sourced from 20 year old vineyards within the Amarone Classico zone, the first area where this wine was crafted. Here, clay-limestone soils with rock structures and hilly landscapes create the microclimates which gave Amarone its international reputation.
Vinification: Individual parcels of Rondinella, Corvina and Molinara grapes are hand-selected for their concentration and ripeness, before being separated and dried to reduce water content, and further increase concentration. These were then fermented dry and aged in oak, before the parcels were blended prior to bottling.
