On the nose, this wine shows intense aromas of red berried, with floral and spicy notes. On the palate it shows an extremely balanced structure with a full body, well integrated silky tannins and a vibrant acidity. It has long and persistent finish.
Rennina Brunello di Montalcino

This 27 hectare property, situated at an altitude of 350 metres above sea level, is nestled in the heart of Montalcino, neighbouring Fossacolle and Case Basse. It was purchased by Angelo Gaja in 1994, his first foray outside his native Langhe. It took Gaja a while to bring the wines up to the level of quality he consistently achieves with his Piemontese wines, but today his Brunellos from Pieve Santa Restituta rank with the finest in Montalcino.
Vineyards
Fruit for this wine comes from three non – contiguous plots that were identified as “Rennina” in a Church document dating back to 715 AD. These plots amount to 10 hectares and are located in the township of Tavernelle to the south west of Montalcino. The vineyards are South / South West facing and soils here are mostly clay, sand and tufa. Vines are 30 years old on average.
Vinification
The grapes from the different vineyards are fermented and macerated separately for three weeks. They are then aged in oak for 24 months before being blended and then aged for another six months in concrete vats.
